Gary Goddard is the retired actuary and pension officer for a large Canadian union pension plan where he was responsible for all aspects of design, funding, regulation, administration, governance, and communication. He is currently a professional trustee and sits on the Board of Trustees of the CUPE Education Workers’ Benefits Trust (chair) and the Canada-Wide Industrial Pension Plan. Prior to his pension officer position, Goddard spent 20 years in the actuarial field with various international consulting firms. He provided advice to clients in the areas of both pension and health benefits. Gary’s specialties are in the areas of funding, legislation, governance, investment and mergers and acquisitions. He has an honours Bachelor of Science degree from Carleton University in Ottawa and holds the designations of Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Gary has been a member of the Society of Actuaries’ Education and Examination Committee for 20 years.
